Pathanamthitta: Ahead of the Mandala season, Sabarimala temple portals will be opened today evening at 5. The pilgrims will set their journey from Nilakkal to Pampa at 2 pm. And in the evening, with the presence of Tantri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru, Melshanti will open the portals.
There will be no special Pujas today.The main ceremony would be that the Tantri will direct the newly appointed Melshantis into the holy shrine. Meanwhile, Pathanamthitta district collector PB Nooh has said that there will be no restrictions in Sabarimala and the adjoining areas as there seems to be no hurdles. Trails along traditional jungle routes will be restricted. The pilgrims are only allowed to board until three o’clock in the day.
Devotees will not have restrictions in Pampa, Nilakkal or Sannidhanam. KSRTC has increased the number of Pampa-Nilakkal chain services. Hospitals in Pampa, Nilakkal and Sannidhanam have also started functioning.
