China bans BBC World News from broadcasting

China has banned BBC World News from broadcasting in the country for violating its guidelines for reporting. The BBC said it was disappointed by China’s decision to ban it.

This move comes a week after UK cancelled the license of Chinese state-owned broadcaster China Global Television Network’s (CGTN). British media regulator Ofcom revoked after it found that the Chinese state television licence was wrongfully held by Star China Media Ltd.

The Chinese regulator, National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) has made the announcement that BBC violated regulations on radio and television in its China-related reports on the deadly coronavirus pandemic and the persecution of ethnic minority Uighurs.
