Coimbatore: In a tragic accident at Avinashi, near Coimbatore, a Kerala government KSRTC Volvo bus and an Ernakulam registration lorry rammed into each other in the wee hours today. The death toll has increased to 19 and conditions of many are critical.
The KSRTC Garuda Volvo bus travelling from Bengaluru and the lorry had a head on collision at around 3.15 am. Both the driver and conductor of the bus are among those killed in the accident.
The deceased are mostly from Thrissur and Palakkad districts. There were about 48 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. Reports quote eye witnesses saying that a tyre of the lorry had burst and hit the bus coming from the opposite direction.
