India tops the ICC World Test Championship standings after the historic win at the Gabba

New Delhi: After the historic win at the Gabba, India move to the No 1 spot in the ICC World Test Championship standings. India has 430 points from 5 series. New Zealand is in the second position. With the series loss, Australia was pushed to the third position in the table.

In the fourth and final test at the Gabba stadium, India had won by three wickets, crossing the target of 328 in 97 overs. With a spectacular innings from Rishabh Pant who remained unbeaten at 89, Shubman Gill who scored 91 and Cheteswar Pujara who took 56, India won at the greatest battleground of the Australian team. It is after 32 years that Australia lost a match at the Gabba stadium.

The visitors who started off the series by registering their lowest score in Test history in the 2nd innings of the first match itself, finished the series off in style by winning the fortress of Gabba and retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After the win, BCCI had announced a 5 crore team bonus.
