Palakkad: A lockdown has been imposed in Palakkad district’s Pattambi Taluk and Nellaya Panchayat due to surging cases of coronavirus, said Minister A K Balan. Pattambi market is now a COVID-cluster, said the minister.
There will be no movement of private vehicles in lockdown imposed areas.
The situation in Pattambi worsened after 67 workers of the fish market tested positive for the infection.
Minister AK Balan said that one must adhere to covid testing if any symptoms are developed. There are 133 cases reported due to contact. Therefore testing will be ramped up in areas like fish market, vegetable markets, colonies and border areas.
In 47 centres, Antigen test will be conducted and first-line treatment centre will be opened at local-self governing bodies.
