Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has decided to shut down all the liquor shops in the state till further orders.
The announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday.
He said that the decision was taken to stop the illicit flow of liquor in the state amid a partial lockdown in a bid to restrict the spread of the coronavirus.
The Central government had on Sunday asked all the state governments to lock down the districts where infections have surfaced in the region. However, the Kerala government on Sunday clarified that it would not impose total lockdown in the state.
At the same time prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPc were imposed in Kasaragod and Kozhikode.
