Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the District Collector of Palakkad to provide emergency medical care to the victims of the accident. A Kerala government KSRTC Volvo bus and an Ernakulam registration lorry rammed into each other in the wee hours today. The death toll has increased to 20 and conditions of many are critical.
CM Vijayan has also instructed the collector to make arrangements to bring back the dead bodies of the deceased.
“Procedures to identify the deceased are in progress. All possible relief measures will be taken in cooperation with the Government of Tamil Nadu and the District Collector of Tirupur,” read an official statement by the chief minister’s office.
State Transport Minister AK Saseendran said that Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will conduct an inquiry into the accident.
The Chief Minister has also asked Saseendran and Agriculture Minister V S Sunilkumar to act with immediate effect to coordinate relief operations.
