Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Corporation has issued a notice stating that the house of Union Muslim League (IUML) MLA KM Shaji is illegal and should be demolished immediately.
On the direction of Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Kozhikode Corporation officials measured and estimated property of Shaji on Thursday, in connection with a bribery case that the investigation agency is probing.
The Kozhikode Corporation had granted permission for a 3000 square feet house however, the house measured 5250 square feet. The corporation then ordered the demolition of the house, imposing a luxury tax. The interim order for demolition of the house was issued under section 406 (1) of the Kerala Municipality Act.
