Kathmandu: Nepal’s National Assembly today unanimously passed the Constitution Amendment Bill updating the country’s political and administrative map incorporating three Indian territories. This development triggers provocation from the Nepal side.
Nepal, in its new map, claims India’s Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as its territories.
India has termed as untenable the “artificial enlargement” of territorial claims by Nepal. The bill was passed with all the 57 members present voting in its favour.
The row began after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated an 80-km-long strategically crucial road connecting the Lipulekh pass with Dharchula in Uttarakhand on May 8.
Since then, the irked Nepal have been protesting against the inauguration and provoking with a new map showing Indian regions as its territories.
