Police did not arrest Vidya; Police justified that she is absconding; Students say that Vidya is in the hostel

Ernakulam: Police played along without arresting SFI leader K. Vidya in the forgery case. The police’s justification that Vidya is absconding falls apart as students from Kaladi University say that Vidya is in the university hostel.

As part of the case investigation, Agali police will visit Vidya’s house in Thrikaripur today and conduct a search. Statements will be collected from her family members. Police will record the statement from the Principal of the Karindalam Government Arts and Science College, where she worked with fake documents. Meanwhile, as per the Vice Chancellor’s (VC) direction, a subcommittee from Kalady University will probe the complaints against her today regarding the PhD admission.

The CPM state secretariat, which met on Friday, has taken the stand of disowning Vidya. A decision was taken in the Secretariat meeting last day not to give political support to Vidya. But, for the ‘mark list controversy’, secretariat decided to protect SFI state secretary Arsho. When the allegations arose, Arsho had given a detailed explanation to the party, which it deemed satisfactory. The party secretariat also opinioned that such allegations are being made to destroy SFI.
Meanwhile, opposition leader VD Satheesan criticised the clean chit provided by the higher education minister, R Bindu, and other allegations against Arsho, while the police investigations are still underway. He added that it is an attempt to influence the police investigation.
