Thiruvananthapuram: The state witnessed a heavy polling in the 17th Lok Sabha elections held in twenty constituencies. In 2014, seventeen constituencies recorded 70% polling. This time, all twenty constituencies marked more than 70% and some constituencies recorded even 80%. In 2014, it was 74.04% and this time, went upto 77%. Both LDF and UDF expect victory and BJP waits for May 23, to hear about their debut victory in Kerala.
In the state capital, polling raised to 73% from last time’s 68.69. Pathanamthitta constituency, where BJP expects a huge victory, recorded 8% more than of previous election. Thrissur recorded 77% while Wayanad, 80%.
Northern Kerala also witnessed strong polling. Kannur constituency recorded the highest polling percentage in the state,82%. Report says Kasarkod, Wayanad, Kozhikkode, Vatakara, Chalakkudi and Alappuzha also scored more than 80% voting.
