Sonam Wangchuk invents Solar Heated Tents for Indian Army in Ladakh

Indian scientist Sonam Wangchuk who was also an inspiration for the character played by Aamir Khan in the movie 3 Idiots, showcased his latest invention, ‘Solar Heated Military tent’ for Indian Army in Ladakh.

Temperatures at Galwan Valley and Siachen Glacier drop to as low as -14 degree Celsius but the tent invented by Wangchuk will maintain a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius inside the tent at night and replaces kerosene which causes pollution.

The tent can be used by 8-10 soldiers and it is fully portable for difficult terrains. The tent weighs less than 30kgs. It took him and his team one month to make this solar heated tent.

He has spent his own money to make this tent as a gift for the army.
