Tirupati: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was on a five-day tour to India, visited and offered prayers at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala this morning. The PM is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, spent an hour in the temple. Mahinda Rajapaksa returned Colombo from Renigunta. This is Rajapaksa’s first visit to the temple as Prime Minister.
Mahinda Rajapaksa offered prayers and witnessed poojas of the temple. Priests performed ‘archana’ to the idol for Rajapaksa and a sacred silk cloth, memento as well as prasadam were presented to the PM by temple officials.
Mahinda Rajapaksa reached India on 7 February and this time, he visited Varanasi, Sarnath and Bodh Gaya and river Ganga.
