Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed a mini Thrissur Pooram yesterday. The boundaries burst like crackers, while the sixes soared like a chain link. In a display of power and skill, both teams collectively hammered a staggering 38 massive sixes into the gallery, while an additional 31 boundaries graced the outfield. The scoreboard showed the intensity of the contest as Mumbai and Hyderabad collectively amassed a jaw-dropping total of 523 runs in a single day, rewriting the record books with every passing moment.

The Hyderabad crowd was treated to a match where all the bowlers of the Mumbai Indians seemed to be airborne. Hyderabad posted a score of 277, surpassing the previous IPL record of 263 runs set by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013. Let’s take a look at the records that were set yesterday.

The match saw the Sunrisers achieve their highest team score in an IPL match, scoring an impressive 277 runs for the loss of 3 wickets against the Mumbai Indians. Moreover, the clash set a new record for the highest combined total score by both teams in an IPL match, a staggering 523 runs.  Mumbai’s ferocious batting display saw them join the elite club of teams to hit 20 sixes in an inning, following in the footsteps of Delhi and RCB.

Individual brilliance shone through as well, with Hentich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head each notching up scores of 60 and more in their IPL innings. For the first time in history, four batsmen scored half-centuries in an IPL match in less than 25 balls. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Hentich Klaasen, and Tilak Varma achieved this feat, leading their teams with exceptional batting performances.
