Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya has been encountering a challenging stint in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite leading a strong team, MI commenced their campaign with consecutive losses in their initial two matches. In their opening game, MI faced a disappointing defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT), losing by a narrow margin of 6 runs. Their second match saw them being outplayed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a significant margin of 31 runs.
As MI prepares for their next game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday, reports have surfaced regarding potential fan trouble at the Wankhede Stadium. Speculations suggested that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was considering measures to address fan outrage behaviour.
Action will be taken against fan outrage directed at Hardik Pandya, states the Mumbai Cricket Association in an explanatory report. It was reported that those chanting in favor of Rohit Sharma and those opposing Pandya would be ejected from the stadium. During the past two matches of the season, there was a significant uproar against Pandya in the stadium.
There are indications that fans may demonstrate against Hardik in tomorrow’s match between the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, reports emerged suggesting that special police had been assigned to monitor individuals shouting at Pandya, and those fans would be removed from the stadium. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association clarified in a press release that all these reports are baseless.
The MCA swiftly responded to these reports, clarifying that no additional police force is planned for the upcoming match. The association emphasised that they adhere to the guidelines set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding spectators’ behaviour.
Recent matches have witnessed fan outrage against Hardik Pandya, with chants both in favour of and against him. Despite rumours of evictions for fans chanting against Pandya, the MCA assured that no such actions would be taken.
