Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC buses found driving recklessly will now face consequences. Failure to stop at designated bus stops to pick up passengers will result in a fine of Rs 1000 for the driver. Similarly, failing to drop off passengers at the requested stops will result in a fine of Rs 500. If the offense is repeated, the punishment will be doubled. Further complaints will lead to strict actions on the employees, including transfer or suspension.
KSRTC has issued an order empowering unit heads to expedite punishment on complaints against employees who harass passengers. Passengers can film the violations on their mobile phones and submit them along with the complaint. Complaints can be made directly or through e-mail, through WhatsApp or by contacting the control room phone numbers.
A fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for misbehaving with the passengers. If the offense is repeated, the fine will be doubled. If the conductor falls asleep during duty, he will be fined Rs 1000. A fine of Rs 1,000 will also imposed for offenses such as avoiding authorized stops and continuing on other roads, avoiding service roads. A fine of Rs 500 will be levied for irregularities such as alarmingly careless driving of the bus and not giving correct information to the reserved passengers.
Strict measures will be taken to prevent ticketless travel. If the ticket is not issued, the penalty on the conductor will increase in proportion to the number of passengers in the bus.
