New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court in the national capital on Monday rejected the detailed interim bail plea of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha. Her plea, citing her minor son and school examinations as grounds for interim bail, was dismissed by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja this morning.

Kavitha has been in judicial custody following remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case. The ED’s counsel opposed her bail application, arguing that she had destroyed the evidence on her phone and that witnesses were forced to retract their statements.

K Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is accused of playing a pivotal role in the “South Group”. Allegedly, this group provided kickbacks amounting to Rs 100 crore to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal in exchange for a significant portion of liquor licenses in Delhi.
