Thrissur: A 17-year old girl, Gopika was murdered by her friend for rejecting his love proposal. The body was recovered from the Malakkapara forest, bordering Thrissur district in Kerala, on Wednesday. Her family resides in Kaloor, Ernakulam.
The police found Gopika dead after an extensive search at midnight on Tuesday.
The murderer Safar has was caught and taken into custody. Police searched the area after the accused confessed that he killed her and threw her body in the forest.
Upon interrogation, Safar revealed that he stabbed the girl using a knife and dumped the body in the forest at Varattuppara about 15 km away from Malakkapara.
Gopika’s father Vinod said that Safar had been harassing his daughter for over a long time. Safar had threatened to murder the girl as she denied his love, though they were in friendship.
