Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that all the government’s revenue streams have come to a halt due to coronavirus outbreak. If this situation continues, then it would be doubtful whether the treasury would have enough money to pay April month’s salary.
There has been an unprecedented crisis like never before. Finance meant for relief cannot be utilised for salary payment. All sources of income, including taxes have closed. In view of this the chief minister asked government officials and teachers to donate one month’s salary.
Those who cannot pay their salaries at once should be paid in installments.
The government, including the health sector has to bear all the expenses related to coronavirus treatment. This will put the government in a state of financial burden, said Pinarayi Vijayan.
