Kollam: Health Inspector has been suspended after alleged attempt to smuggle rice and sell illegally from the corporation’s community kitchen. Prasannan, Health Inspector of Kavanad Zone, has been suspended.
The Health Inspector tried to sell four bags of rice that was donated to the community kitchen of the corporation. He tried to smuggle rice in her own car and sell it at a shop in Kavanad.
The matter came to light after a person noticed the shady dealings and reported to the councillor. The councillor then reported it to the Mayor. The corporation secretary then suspended Prasannan, following a probe into the matter.
The rice bags have been restored in the community kitchen. The mayor stated that he had been carrying rice on his own, and that if there was a shortage of goods in the community kitchen, the corporation would deliver them.
