Vaikom: Heavy rains lashed out in Vaikom on Sunday evening causing severe damages to houses in the region. About a hundred houses were damaged after trees fell over it due storm.
Damages were reported in Vaikom town, Chemmanakari, TV puram and Kothavara regions. Many tress were uprooted in the region leading to halt in traffic in Vaikom.
Electricity posts were also vandalised due to rains and winds and therefore no electricity in the region.
The revered Vaikom Mahadeva temple also suffered damages. The rooftop tiles of temple’s oottupura, Devaswom office, Committee office flew away in the storm.
