Pathanamthitta: The investigation commission claims former Devaswom Board Secretary V S Jayakumar to have indulged in corruption during Sabarimala pilgrimage period.
During the pilgrimage period between 2013 and 2015, Jayakumar, the then executive officer of Sabarimala, alleged to have bought new utensils worth Rs 1,81,89,490 when the old utensils remained unused. He is accused of forging fake bills in the name of new utensils.
The irregularities were found earlier by the high court-appointed audit department. Further the vigilance began investigation. The investigation report submitted by Cherunniyoor Sasidharan Nair, a former vigilance tribunal officer, shows that the allegations against Jayakumar is relevant.
However, during the 2003-2004 pilgrimage, there was no evidence of a similar allegations against Jayakumar, who was then a Pampa AO.
The bills submitted as proof of the purchase of the vessels has proved to be fake. Jayakumar trashed related files to prevent him of being accused in the scam case.
Jayakumar, who has been on mandatory leave since 2017, has retired from work.
The report submitted to the Devaswom Board will also be forwarded to the government and the High Court.
