Kerala COVID-19: Curfew from midnight in Aluva Municipality

Kochi: Due to rising numbers in coronavirus cases, the areas near Aluva Municipality will be shut down completely. Curfew will be imposed in Aluva, Keezhmadu, Kadungallur, Edathala, Alangodu, Karumaloor, Chengamanad and Churnikara panchayats from midnight today.

The above mentioned places will be considered as a single cluster, informed Minister V S Sunil Kumar.

The minister said the situation in Aluva is worse than Chellanam, which was reported to have more number of cases. In the Chellanam area, 224 people were diagnosed with the disease. The medical team said the situation was critical in and around Aluva. There is currently no threat of community spread in Aluva. Precautions are being taken to prevent community spread.

Essential commodities shops can be opened from 10 am to 2 pm. No weddings or funerals are to be conducted without informing the police. No shops except medical to remain open after 2 pm. No one is allowed to move out of their houses unnecessarily.
