Alappuzha: The accused who were charged in the case of demolition of P Krishna Pillai memorial have been acquitted by the Alappuzha Principal Sessions Court. The court acquitted all the accused after finding no evidence against them.
The acquitted includes V S Achuthanandan’s former personal staff Latheesh B Chandran. The Krishna Pillai memorial at Alappuzha Kanjikuzhi Kannarkattu was demolished on the morning of October 31, 2013. P. Krishna Pillai’s house in Chellikandam was set on fire and the statue was vandalised.
The Crime Branch had found that a sect in the CPM was behind the attack.
Others who have been acquitted are Kannarkkad local committee secretary P Sabu, and party members Deepu and Rajesh.
