Kozhikode: BJP state president K Surendran raised serious suspicion over the deal between the Life Mission Project and UAE-based Red Crescent. He asked if the government has entered into any deal with the foreign firm instead of charity.

Questioning about gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh’s commission, he asked, ” How did Swapna Suresh receive Rs 1 crore as commission under the state government’s project.”

Surendran said, ” A voluntary organisation based in a foreign country had donated Rs 20 crore as charity. The Chief Minister’s former Principal Secretary and Swapna Suresh received Rs 1 crore each from this aid. Is there any commission from a charity fund?”

Addressing a press meet, Surendran said that Chief Minister should be ready enough to explain the details of the agreement.

The BJP President alleged that Sivasankar and Swapna Suresh went abroad before coming in terms with the Chief Minster. ” How can a temporary employee like Swapna go along with the Principal Secretary for signing the big deal? Did they hold talk for charity there?”

“Also the Life Mission Project advertisement claims that the project is a sponsored programme by the UAE Consulate. There are some legal formalities in the external affairs ministry when you receive huge amount as charity fund. Did the state government complete these formalities?” asked Surendran.

“If Swapna and Sivasankar received commission for the project, then it will not be charity work,” alleged Surendran.
