Kochi: Koduvally Municipal Councillor Karat Faisal, who was taken into custody in connection with his alleged involvement in the gold smuggling case, was released on Friday.
However, he has been asked to present himself to the Customs again after two weeks. The Customs has not given clean chit to Faisal.
He is believed to be the kingpin of the gold smuggling racket. Customs suspect that Faisal has played a major role in selling the 80 kilograms of gold which reached Kerala through the diplomatic channel.
