New Delhi :The Supreme court has produced strict instruction that the details of sexually abused victims should not be disclosed. Even with the victims death the authority is not allowed to disclose any details. The bench chaired by justice Madan Lokur has come with clear instructions that no details leading to the victim’s personal life to be shared to the public.
Even the FIR no longer has the provision to mention the victim with the details revealing her identity, in rape, Sexual harassment, child abuse or similar cases.
There must be clear distinction between media freedom and privacy of the victim. Our society’s attitude towards sexually molested victim is brutal and it is too painful for the survivors, Supreme Court has observed.
