Actor Tini Tom stated that there is a wide spread use of drugs on the sets of Malayalam films. He said that his son got a chance to act in a movie and that he and his wife did not allow it fearing the use of drugs.
Tini Tom was speaking at the Youth festival of Kerala University when he said that he had recently met an actor who was known to be a drug addict. The actor’s teeth had started to crumble apart. Many people say that drugs helped him to become a great actor.
Tini Tom continued that first his teeth would crumble, then his bones. He spoke against the use of drugs saying, “Art should be our intoxicant.”
The excessive use of drugs has led the senior actors and directors of the industry to come out and speak against it. The excise department is set to gather more information in this matter by investigating AMMA organisation.
