Thrissur: As per media reports, the indefinite private bus strike that was to be begin on June 7 has been withdrawn, and instead, owners’ federation president KK Thomas has decided to go on a fast in Thiruvananthapuram. The fast is being conducted to pressurise the government into meeting their demands.
Earlier today, the representatives of the federation and Transport Minister Antony Raju conducted a meeting.
The bus owners’ requests were put forth, which included raising the minimum charge for concession for students to ₹5, establishing an age limit for students, and enabling limited-stop buses to operate.
In response to this, the minister said that “the price of diesel was increased a year ago. The tariffs have not been raised since then. The bus owners’ demands are unreasonable.”
