Ernakulam: Former Rajya Sabha member and film actor Suresh Gopi said that the Chief Minister should answer about the actor Tini Tom’s revelations regarding rampant drug use in the film industry. He also added that NCB and police will conduct investigation on drug dealings.

Although this has been a topic of discussion many times before, the allegations and criticisms related to drug use rose again when Sreenath Bhasi and Shane Nigam were banned by film organizations. Tini Tom came with the revelation following this. He said that his son got an opportunity to act in a movie of a leading star but he didn’t allow his son to act in the movie because of the fear of drug use.

Tini Tom is the ambassador of the awareness programme of the Kerala Police ‘Yodhav’. The film chamber has also informed that the use of drugs on film sets has increased and such people will be caught by the law enforcers if this does not stop.

Although the producer’s association told that they have the list of who all are using drugs at cinema sets but they haven’t revealed the names yet.  The government’s approach on the subject is that they will investigate only when they get a complaint. But the producers are not ready to complain because of the reason that it will interrupt the filming. Producer Rajaputhra Renjith had made a remark that more films are now being shot in Kasaragod because it is convenient to deliver drugs there. This has led to criticisms among the producers.
