Fatorda, Goa: FC Goa has officially confirmed that the six-year tenure of Edu Bedia, an Indian Super League (ISL) icon, will be coming to an end. Bedia’s departure marks the end of an era and leaves an indelible mark on the history of the club.

The Spanish midfielder joined FC Goa in 2017 and has played a pivotal role in the club’s remarkable rise to prominence. Throughout his time with the team, Bedia has been instrumental in their numerous successes, notably leading them to the ISL 2019-20 League Winner’s Shield, the 2019 Super Cup, and the 2021 Durand Cup.

Before making his way to Indian shores and joining FC Goa, Edu Bedia plied his trade for various Spanish clubs, including Racing Santander, UD Salamanca, Hercules FC, Barcelona B, 1860 Munich, Real Oviedo, and Real Zaragoza.

Bedia made an impactful debut for the Gaurs in a thrilling 3-2 away victory against Chennaiyin FC during the 2017-18 ISL season. In only his third game, he made headlines by assisting one of Ferran Corominas’ hat-trick goals, which helped his team secure a remarkable 4-3 win against Bengaluru FC.

On January 21, 2018, Bedia scored his first-ever goal for FC Goa in a 2-1 away victory against Kerala Blasters, leaving a lasting impression on the fans and his teammates.

The 2018-19 seasons proved to be Edu Bedia’s most impressive in India, as he netted eight goals and provided five assists in 23 appearances across the ISL and the Super Cup.

Overall, the playmaker made 122 appearances for FC Goa, leaving a significant impact with 16 goals and 16 assists to his name.
