Mong Kok, Hong Kong – In a thrilling final of the inaugural Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, India A emerged victorious, defeating Bangladesh A by 31 runs on Wednesday, June 21 at the Mission Road Ground. Led by Captain Shweta Sehrawat, the Indian team displayed exceptional skill and determination to claim the championship title.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India A posted a competitive total of 127 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sehrawat contributed 13 runs to the scoreboard before falling victim to Nahida Akter, while Uma Chetry added a valuable 20 runs before being dismissed by Rabeya Khan.

Bangladesh A’s bowling effort was led by Nahida, who proved to be the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 2 wickets for just 13 runs in her four overs. Khatun also contributed by claiming the crucial wickets of Vrinda and Gongadi Trisha. Sanjida Akter Meghla and Rabeya chipped in with one wicket each to their names.

Defending their total, the Indian bowlers put up a disciplined and clinical performance to restrict Bangladesh A to 96 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. India A’s bowlers showcased their skill and composure, creating constant pressure on the opposition batswomen.

Bangladesh A fought valiantly, with Lata Mondal leading the charge with a gritty knock of 33 runs. However, they struggled to maintain the required run rate throughout the innings, ultimately falling short of the target. The Indian bowlers put forth an excellent collective effort, with multiple bowlers making significant contributions.
