Kayamkulam: In a recent development, Abin C Raj, a former SFI leader from Kayamkulam, has been implicated in a fake certificate case, alongside Nikhil Thomas. Nikhil, now in police custody, has alleged that Abin was the mastermind behind the fake certificate.  The Kayamkulam DYSP, G Ajaynath, revealed that efforts are underway to bring back Abin from abroad to face charges.

Reports says that Abin operates a recruitment agency in Kochi and may have supplied fake certificates to students in the past. Nikhil stated that he was deceived into believing the certificate was original from Kalinga University, and Abin assured him that obtaining an equivalency certificate from Kerala University. Nikhil handed over the evidence that he spend Rs 2 lakh to acquire the certificate.

A bank statement has been discovered, indicating a transfer of Rs 2 lakh from Nikhil’s account to Abin’s account. Police suspect that this money was obtained by promising admissions and certificates in various universities. The police are actively pursuing Abin’s return to the country for questioning.

Abin C Raj’s father is an active member of the CPM in Kandalloor Panchayath, and their family has deep roots within the party. Abin previously held positions within the SFI in Thiruvananthapuram before relocating to Kayamkulam. Taking advantage of his influential connections within the CPM, Abin had managed to evade several criminal charges. Currently, he is residing in the Maldives.

Screenshots of Abin C Raj’s social media posts, where he extended birthday wishes to CPM leader KH Babu, who had recommended Nikhil’s admission to Kayamkulam MSM College, have been circulating online. But, Abin’s Facebook account became inaccessible after Nikhil’s statement was made public earlier today.

Nikhil has been taken to Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital for a medical examination and is scheduled to appear before the Kayamkulam Magistrate’s Court later this afternoon. The police have confirmed that the accused will be remanded into custody for further investigation.
