Ajman (UAE): A fire that erupted in Tower 02 of the Ajman One complex, a residential building in Ajman, has been successfully extinguished. The timely response and coordinated efforts of civil defence and police officers led to effective control of the fire, and fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director-General of Police Operations at Ajman Police, confirmed that a mobile police station was dispatched to the scene of the incident. The mobile station facilitated the registration of losses and the issuance of certifications for affected individuals. Additionally, it played a crucial role in ensuring the security of the site.

Following the outbreak of the major fire during the early hours of Tuesday, over 100 families, including those from Kerala, were evacuated from the 30-story building. Thankfully, initial reports indicate no casualties.

To assist with the relocation process, the emirate’s Transport Authority, in collaboration with the Red Crescent, arranged for seven buses to transport residents from Tower 02 to hotels in Ajman and Sharjah.

This incident comes shortly after the UAE Ministry of Interior released figures demonstrating a significant increase in the number of building fires. In 2022, over 3,000 fire incidents were reported, compared to 2,090 incidents in 2021 and 1,968 incidents in 2020. Most of these fires occurred in residential areas, with 1,385 incidents transpiring in homes and apartments, 256 in commercial buildings, 153 on farms, and 122 at public service facilities. However, the ministry’s figures did not provide details regarding fatalities or injuries resulting from these incidents.

Earlier this year, in April, a tragic fire engulfed the fourth floor of a residential building in Dubai, claiming the lives of sixteen individuals and leaving at least nine injured
