Thiruvananthapuram: In a recent development, the anticipatory bail pleas filed by the principal and the second accused student in the Kattakkada Christian College impersonation case have been rejected. The court deemed that granting bail could lead to potential destruction of evidence, which prompted the rejection of their applications. Consequently, the court has directed the first accused, Principal Dr. G.J. Shaiju, and the second accused, SFI leader Visakh, to appear before the investigation team on July 4, as ordered by Bechu Kurian Thomas.
Earlier, the Kerala University Registrar had lodged a complaint with the district police chief, state police chief, and Kattakada Police regarding the University Union Counsellor election. Kattakada police have filed charges, including impersonation, breach of trust, conspiracy, and forgery. Principal Shaiju has been named as the first accused, while SFI leader Visakh has been named as the second accused.
According to reports, Principal Dr. Shaiju allegedly submitted a document to the university, replacing the name of the actual election winner, AS Anakha, with that of SFI area secretary Visakh. However, Visakh’s plea asserts that he bears no responsibility for the incident and argues that the police implicated him without conducting a proper investigation.
Meanwhile, there are allegations that SFI leader Visakh has not yet been arrested by the police, leading to suspicions that this is an attempt to shield him from involvement in the case.
