Manchester, UK :  The stage is set for a thrilling encounter as England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to field first against Australia in the fourth Test match of the Ashes series at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday.

With Australia currently leading the series 2-1, they have the opportunity to claim the prestigious Ashes in today’s match. On the other hand, England will be determined to put up a strong fight and equalise the series.

Speaking at the toss, England captain Stokes expressed confidence in his team’s decision to bowl first, despite the fact that no team has won after electing to bowl first at Old Trafford. He stated that the clarity of their strategy is essential and that they had the same mindset in the last game.

Weather has been a topic of concern in recent matches, but Stokes expressed optimism about the conditions on the day. He emphasised the team’s ability to adapt and play their natural aggressive game if needed. Stokes also praised James Anderson’s exceptional performance and assured that there were no concerns with him. Moeen Ali’s inclusion at number three was seen as a move to have an impact on the game through his batting prowess.

Australia captain Pat Cummins, on the other hand, revealed that they too would have preferred to bowl first. However, losing the toss on a good wicket didn’t bother them much. He highlighted the pace at which the game is played at Old Trafford and expressed confidence in their lineup, which features two all-rounders and Travis Head and provides them with various options.

The Ashes series has always been a fiercely contested battle between the two cricketing giants, and the fourth Test promises to be no different. Both teams are geared up to give their best and claim victory.
