Kannur: Gold worth Rs.78 lakhs have been recovered from two smugglers at the Kannur International Airport. Gold weighing 1,321 grams was confiscated from two individuals in two separate cases.
In the first case, the airport police arrested Muhammad Shahil when he tried to smuggle 950 grams of gold worth Rs.55 lakhs. He was carrying the gold in a juice mixer.
Following this arrest, Customs team led Assistant Commissioner Sivaram confiscated 391 grams of gold from Jabar, who is a resident of Muzhapilangadu.
Three months back, smuggled gold worth Rs.1.6 crore was confiscated from three individuals by the DRI. The accused tried to smuggle gold by hiding it in their private parts.
