New Delhi: During the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam held to commemorate three years of the National Education Policy (NEP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that India is being viewed as a nursery of new opportunities, attracting interest from several countries for establishing Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campuses. He mentioned that two IIT campuses in Tanzania and Abu Dhabi are in the process of commencing operations, while many global universities are also expressing their desire to set up campuses in India.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of evaluating youngsters based on their talent rather than their language, considering it a grave injustice to judge them solely based on linguistic proficiency. He praised the NEP for giving equal significance to traditional knowledge systems alongside futuristic knowledge.

In light of rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence, which were once confined to science fiction, becoming an integral part of our daily lives, Prime Minister Modi stressed the need for a forward-looking approach. He called for liberating children from excessive academic pressure and urged schools to incorporate subjects like disaster management, climate change, and clean energy into their curriculum.

The two-day Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam took place at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. During the event, Prime Minister Modi disbursed the first installment of funds under the PM Schools for Rising India (SHRI) scheme. Additionally, he unveiled education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 languages. The SHRI scheme, aimed at developing more than 14,500 schools across the country, was previously approved by the Union Cabinet.
