Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Joy Mathew comes with a fresh response on the myth controversy, stating, “Tribute to the scientific temper that confronted the myth, and died a heroic death.” These remarks were shared by Joy Mathew in a post on Facebook. In this comment, the actor indirectly ridiculed MV Govindan, the CPM State Secretary, who had altered his stance on the myth controversy. This isn’t the first time the actor has addressed the matter. Earlier, he had remarked that ‘communism, by and large, stands as the biggest myth’.
Protests were ignited following Speaker AN Shamseer’s disrespectful remarks, in which he referred to Lord Ganesha as a myth. Numerous Hindu organizations, feeling that their religious sentiments were offended, actively participated in these protests. Extensive discussions, both in favor of and against, regarding this matter are still going on.
Amidst this controversy, CPM State Secretary MV Govindan initially said that what Shamseer said was true and there is no doubt that Ganapathi is a myth. He supported his stance by highlighting Islam’s belief in monotheism (single god theory). However, as the protests gained momentum, Govindan changed his statements making the CPI(M)’s position on the matter into a subject of ridicule. He now says that he never made any provocative statements and never referred to Lord Ganesha as a myth.
Actor Joy Mathew was responding to this reversed statement of MV Govindan through his Facebook post.
