Thrissur: Arun (28), a native of Guruvayur, has been apprehended for attempting to smuggle spirits. His arrest occurred in Puthukkad, located in the Thrissur district. Law enforcement officials confiscated approximately 1,500 litres of spirit, 300 litres of counterfeit toddy, manufacturing materials, and vehicles from his possession.
The police team initiated an inspection in response to information about the production and distribution of spurious liquor in the area. This operation led to the arrest of Arun in his godown located in the isolated building at Putukkad.
In a separate incident, the Thiruvananthapuram district police arrested three individuals from Neyyattinkara, alongside the seizure of 504 litres of spirit. Among those apprehended were three individuals from Malayinkeezh and Vellayani. Substantial quantities of bottles were also confiscated during this operation.
