Tuvvur: Media reported that the dead body of a missing 35-year-old woman, Sujitha, has been recovered from the premises of the house of a Youth Congress activist, Vishnu, at Tuvvur in Malappuram district. Along with Vishnu, his father, Kunjunni, brothers Vyshak and Jithu together with his friend Shifan has been also taken into custody.
The report said that the dead body was found at the premises of Vishnu’s house, which is located near the railway track close to the Tuvvur panchayat office. According to Vishnu’s statement, the motive behind the murder was to steal Sujith’s jewelry. After the murder, attempt has been made to cut off the jewelry and sell it off.
The police had arrested Vishnu last night after they discovered the mortal remains of Sujitha. However, the dead body will be fully taken out only today after the forensic team arrives on the scene.
Sujitha, who was a Kudumbasree worker and a contract employee at Krishi Bhavan went missing on 11th of this month. Vishnu gave the statement that she had strangulated her to death on that day. His father, brothers and his friend had helped him dispose Sujitha’s dead body.
Vishnu is the Youth Congress secretary of Tuvvur constituency committee and a prominent political leader in the area. When the news of Sujitha’s disappearance spread, Vishnu had shared a post on his Facebook post seeking help to find her. Being a political worker, Vishnu, also took part in the search team and was also active in the action committee, constituted to press the police to intensify the search for Sujitha.
However, the police investigation led to Vishnu’s involvement in the murder and he was arrested.
