Patient’s fall due to collapsed stretcher raises concerns about hospital safety

Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the incident involving a patient being seriously injured due to the collapse of a stretcher, the health department has not taken any action against the hospital. The incident occurred at Nedumangad Hospital. However, the doctor clarified that the patient did not fall from the stretcher.

The hospital superintendent’s explanation is that he is not aware of any such incident. Lalika, a resident of Panavoor Manguzhi, suffered injuries when the stretcher she was using collapsed due to rust. Lalika arrived at the hospital after experiencing chest pain. The stretcher collapsed while the patient was being transferred to the emergency department. Lallika had a pre-existing disc problem, and it is also reported that her back was injured in the fall.
