Kochi: Kerala Blasters Football Club has made an exciting addition to their roster by signing midfielder Freddy Lallawmawma from Punjab FC. The promising young talent has inked a three-year contract with the club, bringing fresh dynamism to the midfield.

Freddy Lallawmawma, known for his versatility and capabilities as a defensive midfielder, possesses the ability to excel in multiple positions within the midfield. At just 21 years of age, Lallawmawma hails from Mizoram and is eager to make his mark with the Kerala Blasters.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining the Kerala Blasters, Lallawmawma said, “I am extremely grateful for this exciting opportunity. Kerala Blasters is one of the biggest clubs in the country, and I see this opportunity as the next big step in my growth as a player. I promise to do everything within my control to fulfill whatever role the club requires me to.”
Kerala Blasters Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys welcomed the new signing, emphasising the potential Lallawmawma brings to the squad. Skinkys noted, “Freddy is a very good addition to the squad. He is young and eager to learn, with the mentality to impact and control the game in the midfield. I hope he can quickly settle into the squad and contribute to the team’s success.”
Lallawmawma’s journey in professional football began with Aizawl, where he even held the captain’s armband. His career then took him to various clubs, including local rivals Chanmari and Zo United in the Mizoram Premier League. Notably, he returned to Aizawl when the team secured promotion to the I-League.
The midfielder made his professional debut for Aizawl in the I-League in January 2016, marking the start of a promising career. Subsequently, he had stints with clubs such as DSK Shivajians and Mohun Bagan in the I-League.
Lallawmawma’s talents truly shone when he joined ATK for the 2018–19 season in the Indian Super League (ISL), where he delivered outstanding performances and earned recognition. He made 17 appearances for ATK during his debut ISL season.
Afterward, he moved to Jamshedpur FC ahead of the 2020–21 season, where he made the left-back position his own, showcasing his adaptability and prowess on the field.
