Srinagar: I have to attend Friday congregational prayers, been under house arrest for four years. If I still haven’t been released, I will approach the court, says Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwais Umar Farooq. The chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, Mirwais Umar Farooq, has asserted that he will take his case to court.

He has been under house arrest since August 4, 2019, and is unable to attend Friday congregational prayers. Numerous notices were sent to the government, but no response has been received. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq states that if he continues to be detained, he will take legal action against the government. Mirwais Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, an Islamic nationalist organisation, was placed under house arrest one day before the abrogation of Article 370. He is currently detained at his residence in Nagin. On August 20, he sent a legal notice to the government, demanding his release. On August 20, he sent a legal notice through his lawyer to the government, requesting his release. He warned that he would take the matter to court if he did not receive a positive response.
