New Delhi:  The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is on the cusp of unveiling the much-anticipated Indian cricket squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has diligently put together the 15-member team after arriving in Sri Lanka, where the Asia Cup is currently being hosted. While the official announcement is expected today, reports from national media have already begun to trickle in, offering a glimpse of the selected players.

In a noteworthy development, it appears that Keralite  sensation Sanju V. Samson, who was part of the Asia Cup squad, has not secured a place in the ODI World Cup team. The decision to exclude the talented wicketkeeper-batsman will undoubtedly generate discussions among cricket enthusiasts.

The selection process was conducted after an extensive meeting involving Indian team coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma, both of whom were in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup. Despite grappling with an injury, KL Rahul has managed to secure his spot in the 15-member squad, adding depth to the batting lineup.

Apart from Sanju V. Samson, the selectors have decided to omit two more players from the Asia Cup squad for the ODI World Cup. Youngster Tilak Verma and pacer Prasidh Krishna, who were part of the Asia Cup journey, will not be donning the Indian jersey in the upcoming tournament. Suryakumar Yadav, despite having a less impressive record in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), has been included in the World Cup squad, showcasing the faith that the selectors have in his abilities.

However, in the event that KL Rahul’s injury concerns persist, Sanju V. Samson might find himself in the role of a reserve player, ready to step in if needed.

According to reports, the ODI World Cup squad is expected to include the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav. The squad will also feature wicketkeepers Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul.
