Malappuram: A dramatic accident occurred late last night in Perinthalmanna as a tanker truck transporting petrol from Kochi lost control and overturned. The incident unfolded on Perinthalmanna- Pandikkad Road, just around midnight, when the tanker truck veered out of control and tumbled into a nearby water body. Efforts to mitigate the situation began swiftly as a crane was deployed to lift the overturned truck from the water.

The driver of the ill-fated vehicle, Krishnankutty, and a passenger named Jinu sustained injuries in the incident. Both victims were promptly transported to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna for medical attention.

Responding promptly to the accident report, local authorities dispatched a team from the Fire and Rescue Department, along with law enforcement personnel, to the scene. Their presence was essential in ensuring the safety of the area and assisting with the accident investigation.

Mundathapalam, on the Perinthalmanna-Ooty road, has been demolished and  repair work is ongoing causing . According to the driver, the lack of visibility due to oncoming vehicle lights at the place where soil was  piled-up on the bridge contributed to the loss of control that led to the accident.
