New York: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Vaccine War’ achieved a historic milestone on Tuesday as it became the first Indian film to launch a song at Times Square in New York. The film’s title track, ‘Shristhi se pehle,’ featuring Shlokas from the Rigveda describing the creation of the universe, was beautifully performed in the form of Kathak dance. The entire street burst into life with a captivating flash mob, enchanting all those who witnessed it.

Ahead of its official release, ‘The Vaccine War’ held a pre-release screening in New York, drawing a full and enthusiastic audience. The screening featured the presence of director Vivek Agnihotri and producer-actor Pallavi Joshi. Agnihotri expressed his motivation behind showcasing India’s exceptional scientific achievement on the global stage. He highlighted the collaborative efforts between India and the United States to support numerous underdeveloped nations. Given that the USA was a focal point of the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing worldwide attention and acknowledging India’s pivotal role as a democracy, Agnihotri believed it was imperative to commence the film’s journey in the US, gauging the reactions of the audience before its release in India.

HISTORY WAS CREATED TODAY: On the eve of #G20India

Who would have thought that one day NASADIYA SUKTA from RIG VEDA on the science of how the UNIVERSE WAS CREATED from #TheVaccineWar will be performed in KATHAK form at Times Square, NY.

Pallavi Joshi further emphasised, “One thing is certain – after watching the film, the audience will walk out with their heads held high. Our scientists achieved a remarkable feat during the lockdown when the pandemic gripped the world. Women, in particular, not only managed household chores but also spent 16, 17, and 18 hours in labs, developing the vaccine that saved our nation of 1.35 billion people.”

Edward Ridley Finch Cox, an American finance lawyer and the current chairman of the New York Republican State Committee, attended both events. Cox expressed his newfound appreciation for India’s power and diversity and underscored the importance of Indian Americans. He urged all Americans to watch ‘The Vaccine War.’

The New York events for ‘The Vaccine War’ were orchestrated by Mohan Wanchoo, a successful software entrepreneur and philanthropist of Indian heritage. “Vaccine War” sheds light on how India produced the COVID-19 vaccine under unprecedented challenges and subsequently provided it free of charge to numerous countries in dire need. ‘The Vaccine War’ will narrate the inspiring story of the triumph of Indian scientists and the 1.3 billion people who fought valiantly during the COVID-19 era.
