ALAPPUZHA: A lady conductor was injured by a ceiling fan in the KSRTC rest room at Chengannur KSRTC depot in Alappuzha district. The injured conductor is K Shalini, a 43-year-old native of Chathannoor, Kollam district.
Yesterday, Shalini had arrived in Chengannur from Kollam for her duty. While she was sitting in the rest room just before starting her shift, the ceiling fan fell on her.
This incident occurred in the ladies’ rest room at the Chengannur depot, and the injured Shalini was promptly taken to Chengannur District Hospital for medical attention.
The construction of a new building at the Chengannur depot had recently been completed, including rest rooms for KSRTC staff. However, the staffs have been unable to use the new building as it has not yet been inaugurated. The current building is in a very deplorable condition.
After enduring long hours of duty, KSRTC staff have been using this substandard rest room for rest. Numerous complaints have been raised regarding the delay in permitting the usage of the new building.
