Thiruvananthapuram: On Wednesday, a 23-year-old man tragically took his own life, hanging himself, after suffering heavy losses while playing online rummy.
The victim, identified as P.K. Rosh, was discovered hanging from a tree near the resort where he worked at Attukal Waterfalls in Pallivasal, Idukki. Despite the immediate efforts of his colleagues who rushed him to the hospital, Rosh could not be saved.
Rosh’s colleagues revealed that he had been engrossed in playing rummy for extended periods over several days, resulting in substantial financial losses. It was noted that he had even resorted to borrowing money to fund his addiction to online gaming, as confirmed by one of his colleagues.
Following the completion of the necessary inquest procedures, Rosh’s body was transferred to Adimali Taluk Hospital for a postmortem.
