Lucknow: There is a complaint alleging that Hindus are being coerced into converting to another religion, with the conversion being facilitated through promises, including the offer of English education. This incident is reported to have occurred in Raebareli. Reports suggest that there are ongoing efforts to forcibly convert Hindus to Christianity.
Similar cases of widespread religious conversions have been reported in the state previously. On September 17, the police arrested seven people on charges of forced religious conversion. The following individuals were arrested by the police: Ram Ratan Shankar, Lakshmi Shankar, Rajendra Sevak, Pawan Kishan, Rahul Prasad, Virendra Lal, and Akhilesh Kumar.
Seven cases were reported in Kanpur last month, where a few Hindus were converted to Christianity by being offered money, jobs, food, houses, and marriage. In 2023, around 90 people were arrested for committing the same crime.
